After your massage, you'll have a post-massage discussion, receive any recommendations, and have the opportunity to schedule future appointments.

How will massage therapy benefit me?

Massage therapy can have a wide range of benefits including relief from muscular tension and pain, increased range of motion, reduction of mental stress levels, improved sleep, reduction of edema and swelling, and reduced muscle cramping and spasming. Massage is a natural healing process that can deliver both physical and emotional benefits.

Which regions of my body get massaged?
​
During intake you will be asked what you would like to get out of the session. You will also be asked to describe any chronic problems you are experiencing. During this intake process you and your therapist will determine the appropriate regions of your body that need attention.

A typical full-body massage involves your back, neck, shoulders, arms, legs, glutes, feet, and hands.

I’m not sure I’m comfortable with a stranger touching me.
​
It is not uncommon for first-time clients to be apprehensive with the personal nature of massage therapy. Most clients lose this apprehension within the first few minutes of treatment.

Massage therapists are trained professionals who respect your feelings and go out of their way to allow you to feel comfortable.

Do I have to take off all of my clothes?
​
One of the keys to the success of your massage therapy session is your ability to relax and feel comfortable. Therefore, the decision is yours to undress to your comfort level– remove only the articles of clothing that you are comfortable with removing. Traditional full-body massage treatments work best administered directly, without the barrier of clothing on the areas massaged. During a session you will be fully covered with a table sheet/blanket, only the area of your body that is being worked on is uncovered.

Before and after the session, you will undress and dress in complete privacy.

How often should I receive a massage?
​
For those who use massage as preventative care or to manage daily stress, one massage a month is common. Weekly sessions may be desirable if you are receiving massage for injury relief or to relieve chronic tightness that is interfering with your daily life. There are many people who incorporate massage therapy at least twice a month for optimal therapeutic relief.

Clients of Minor Age

​Minors under the age of 18 may receive massage with written consent (Minor Consent Form & Client Intake Form) from a parent or guardian prior to performing the massage. Parents/Guardians must remain in the massage room during the entire session.

Why Am I Sore After A Massage?
​
After your massage that same day, there are some easy, pleasant things you can do to help prevent some of the next-day soreness:

Be purposeful about your water intake, both before and after your appointment. Hydrated muscles and fascia are more functional. Also, there are some strongly-held beliefs that drinking water after a massage can help to flush away the toxins released by massage. While there is no clinical evidence that toxins are released via massage, staying hydrated is never a bad idea.

Do some gentle stretching that evening, paying special attention to your trouble spots that received the most attention during your massage.

Take a warm bath, ideally with Epsom salts (1/2 cup to 1 cup for adults), and soak for 20-40 minutes. Epsom salts are an inexpensive and effective way to further help your body rid itself of toxins and reduce muscle inflammation. You also get the added bonus of absorbing the beneficial magnesium found in Epsom salts through your skin.
As your body becomes accustomed to regular massages, you’ll experience the next-day soreness less frequently.
